Mt. Carr - 7/3/05 - 6 miles - Tim, Danielle, Fuzz, Anthony, Heather, Steve, Dave, Kelly
The motley crew getting ready to hike.
We followed the Three Ponds trail to the Carr Mountain trail. Both trails were completely wooded and we didn't have any views until we reached the top.
The intersection with the Carr Mountain trail is where the climbing began.
But first, we needed to take a little break.
We had one water crossing on the trail that was easy to get across.
Up on top of the mountain we found some old footings to a fire tower.
We stayed up here for almost an hour and didn't see another person until we were getting ready to leave.
Standing on the fire tower footings allowed us to look over the trees and see the surrounding mountains.
There was also a large boulder nearby that Heather found that also offered some great views.
We could see Mt. Washington off in the distance.
In fact, we could see the whole Presidential range.
The views were really nice on this clear, warm June day.
Mt. Carr is an easy hike to a summit with some nice views. We made it back to our cars in good time and after a dinner stop at the Woodstock Inn we all headed home for the day.
