Old Horizontal
Tasting Notes

Summary: Barleywine is a very strong beer (11% alcohol by volume) and is usually sold between December and February. Old Horizontal by Victory Brewing and Bigfoot by Sierra Nevada are probably the two best in this style of beer.
Style: Barleywine
Appearance: Once poured the head on the beer quickly retreats into the glass; the beer is a nice clear dark amber color that holds a small foam ring around the edge as you drink the beer to the bottom of the glass.
Aroma: The beer has an herbal essence with a hint of the caramel flavor.
Taste: This beer is full of flavor. The first impression is the sweetness of the caramel malts before the hops kick in to give it a slightly bitter taste. This full bodied beer lingers in the mouth for a few seconds after every sip.
